What to Wear? A Guide for Seniors

Wondering what to wear for your next photo shoot? I get this question often and while you want to look nice, you also want to be comfortable and to reflect YOU.
I have created a guide that might help alleviate some anxiety:

  • VARIETY: Having several changes of clothes will allow for variety in the photos. More variety = more fun in the session = better photos!
  • BE YOU! Wear your best YOU. This means that although you will want to dress up a little, it shouldn't take away from who you really are.
  • DETAILS: Adding accessories such as hats, headbands, scarves, bracelets, earrings and a great pair of shoes will add a little POW to the photo.
  • PROPS: We can always incorporate a few things that help to reflect your interests and hobbies in some of the shots. A football jersey, guitar, camera...these are just a few examples.
  • COLORS AND LAYERS: Adding layers of clothing (think tank-top with a cardigan, flow-y skirt and boots) will add depth and style to your photos. Adding pops of color here and there can also create interest.
  • HAIR & MAKE-UP: In order to withstand the bright lights and flash bulbs, makeup has to be exaggerated in real life to look natural on film. If it looks like too much in the mirror at home, then it's perfect. If you can afford it, I suggest getting hair & make-up done by a stylist at the salon. Think of it as part of the investment of senior pictures. Can't afford it?
